A Rough Night (Written to me)

You've always been given a choice
To be heard, and your opinion to voice
You've been blessed with sense
To know what's naïve and what is innocence

Let me then tell you this
I felt your hunger in the kiss
And in the hug that lasted long
I heard you hum out a painful song

These memories cost us many lives
And yet we live through them, we survive
We will calm the rocky, treacherous sea
And at the end of it we will yet be "we"

Yes, A Rough Night (My response)

With the choices I’ve been given
Towards a particular direction I’ve been driven
Taking life a day at a time
Wanting to make it work just fine

Let me then tell you this
The hunger you felt in my kiss
Was a search for something I thought was distant
Here now, gone the next instant

Did you hear the silence
Of the words I couldn’t say
And in the hug that lasted long
Did you feel that painful song?
