A Regretful Smile

Way back in the tender age
In a tryst with the destiny
He was blessed with joy of love
A pure, sweet and innocent love.

But in an impending dilemma
Of listening to heart or mind
Love or work, work or love
He had then chosen the mind.

A sort of matrimonial alliance,
Ever since he and his work
Savour and devour each other
Every day for prolonged hours.

In the balance time remaining
He lives with a regretful smile
In remembrance what he missed
During the life without his life.

Comment Thank you, Kingshukji, I agree. One could ascribe it to many reasons but no excuse can compensate loss.

Comment Very nice! So true it is! Sometimes even knowing the truth, we fail to respond to our heart.
