Every Day, I turn many times in my grave
When I see my India increasingly deprave
Into abysmal depths of moral turpitude,
Incessant corruption and intolerant attitude!
Is this the Swarajya I had ever envisioned …?
The freedom I fought for has been pensioned
Off to a distant and unknown destination
By amoral people with corrupt inclination!
The innocent masses are often confused
By those who have my surname abused!
I know, I just don’t belong here any more
As I've been relegated as Bapu of the yore!
So folks please, just leave me alone
Don’t wear my dhoti-topi and clone!
At the Rajghat, please don’t gather to mourn
Let not my grave, flowers or wreaths adorn!
My statues, pictures and birthday celebration
Have all now become a caricatured aberration.
I refuse to be the Father of this corrupt Nation
Where the reality and my ideals have no relation!
Swarajya = Self Rule
