The day was pleasantly clear on last day of August
At duskfall, my eyes feasted on the indigo sky.
I had an appointment to keep, smiled and gushed
Put on my shoes, tied the laces, feeling a bit shy.
Stepped out gingerly in the pulsating night,
An appointment with celestial kin, a coded exchange!
Soon my face was bathed in blue moon’s light
Pearl grey clouds playfully tried to cover its face.
I sat on a bench and soaked in the fragrance
Of 'Raat ki Raani’, its pale green flowers -
Presiding without a crown just emitting its essence
Transfixed I sat and lingered for a couple of hours.
Smiled to myself as I saw the blue moon bathe
The queen, and amorously yet solemnly gaze.
Left the two alone, walked back, climbed the steps;
You were waiting, and said, it’s a night of grace.
