Once upon a time I bought a gun in Houston,
Texas… it was illegal as I had no papers, but
business was selling; the owner let me have it.

Back onboard my ship I put it in a drawer and
For a brief moment felt invincible, a fearless
cowboy fighting would-be baddies.

The ship left, the gun in the drawer became
a menace keeping me awake at night.

So easy, I could put one bullet in its chamber
swirl it about and play Russian roulette, or
scare to death those I didn´t like.

Four o´clock in the morning I got up and threw
the gun into the sea; and felt an enormous
relief that I had not killed anyone.
