Vermilion

At a time in a phase of life
Passion and sentiments ran so high
Life without her was beyond imagination
He would be very anxious and lonesome
With her absence even in moments.

But the time was ruthless
He had to live a life without her
Enormity of loss drenched spark of life
That turned out to remain merely a chorus
Of worldly duties and commitments.

Decades of longing, he spoke to her once
And with the very sense of her presence
Words failed turning him into a bundle of nerves
That even for a customary get going
He had to empty a full water glass.

During all these lonesome years
Through the pain he endured lifelong
He constantly keeps on pondering
The co
lor of vermilion is so dark and stark
It overshadows remaining colors of life.
