Theme: Inspiration

Metamorphosis

Nirbhaya's cremation
in the dark hours
           by humiliated potentates
           carrying the guilt
           of obliterated conscience
has metamorphosed
the glowing embers
into a spirit
to inspire
fearlessly
the young Indians
with a true meaning
of freedom,
respect and
honor of womanhood.

Comment 31 December 2012
TO: Mr. Rajender Krishan / Dr. Amitabh Mitra
Amidst the Tsunami of grief countrywide, which is simply natural in this situation, I find Dr. Amitabh Mitra's pragmatic suggestions on the basis of his experience in South Africa. But his placement in India's corrupt system will only deprive South Africa of his valuable service there without any gain for India.

Comment Embers glow, warm and warn shady elements delighting in performing the devils' dance marked by diabolical designs in the dark.
Poignant poem,sir.

Comment The poignant moment of change recorded so well! India at cusp of attitudinal change: Urban, middle-class India awakens. Both the genders hitting the streets; a rare solidarity!
A good message on New Year eve!

Comment Truly a poem that reflects the mind and mood of every Indian today, We ask ourselves, Who is to be blamed.

Lets go back to 1978 in Delhi with the rape and murder of Geeta and her brother Sanjay Chopra. Ranga and Billa were hanged. Then came the gruesome murder of Papiya Ghosh in Patna.

I believe that the politicians need to be blamed.

Today I head a Cell that deals exclusively with sexual assaults in South Africa. This cell, available in every South African city has Doctors trained in the Medicolegal Examination of sexual asaults, Police, Nurses, Psychologists and NGOs. These cells are run round the clock and are governed by the Dept. of Justice. The moment a Rape is reported, Special Police Force brings the Victim to such a centre and the other group hunts out the perpetrator. A doctor and his staff is always available within the Centre.

India needs such assistance in instituting such cells. The Thutuzela Centres as they are known as, in South Africa have been successful in curbing such crimes and have been recognized globally in adhering to strict protocols against Gender based violence.

The GOI has poor Advisers and the Women and Child Commission/ Development are toothless tigers. I am more than willing to come to India and help in instituting the South African Model which is also closely involved in HIV prevention/ treatment among those assaulted.
