Kabira said, ‘Beg Not’
Christ said, ‘Cheat Not’
Amma said, ‘Hate Not’
Abba said, ‘Worry Not’
Simply tread the properly chosen path
Sensing failure, “Fear Not.”

But every time I try to understand
or express the core thought
a caravan of words just comes along
populating the page

It perhaps has something to do
with the unfulfilled appetite
of the contemporary creed
manifesting forever
as tempting greed

else

Living the ideals would have been
so simple and maybe
instead of so much gabbling
I would have said:

“Conform, Talk Not.”

Comments on this Poem

Comment It's the impulse of the muse born out of words of the wise that excites the mind.

Comment Caravan of words populating the page - seems an intelligently concealed reference to Gang rapists or the corrupt politicians as unfolds in the next paragraph. Regardless, excellent poem otherwise too.

Comment I'd say Words - Expressions - Hold not! Else, how will we be treated to this poem so full of truth, yet so lightly and humorously put? Thanks for sharing Mr. Rajender Krishan. Keep expressing...!

Comment Good poem, Mr. Rajendar! You have hit the nail on the head. Everyone should act and this year, it is time to ACT than TALK or BLABBER! Hope this year proves to be a year of ACT and real one at that and not imitation! :-)

Comment Conform, Talk not. That is leading thought we should imbibe this first day of the New Year. Thanks

Comment Conflict caught so well: Hedonistic impulses Vs. Idealistic aspirations; market Vs. simpler society. Cusp of change: Bewildered terminology, confusion.
