The New Me

From today I shall only write fine poems
go to the local poetry reading club and
be adored by female fans...

Honey will drip from my lips and I will
wear flowers in my hair and there will
be a flood of happy tears...

In Paris, I read poetry about the Roma
people and the plight of the Palestinians,
the silence still rings in my ears...
