  The black dog within me barks.

Rain clouds answer its command
With a tumultuous torrent;
Flooding my mind and turning
Rich dreams into pale watercolours.

With half chewed fingernails
My spirit clings to the edge
Of the bobbing raft of sanity
In this whirlpool of despair;

As it waits, and waits, for the sun to
Emerge and pierce this enduring
Feeling of gloom within my soul.
