A Fellow-Traveller

  Such a get-together
Draws the human source
Of the invisible force
To the surface; quiet emotions slowly glide
In smiles and harmlessly spiced laughter,
And make us feel free, light and buoyant

As was the case, last evening...

I-we enjoyed thoroughly the chilly-filled
Broasted and roasted chicken
With mayonnaise and French fries
With bread and soft light yellow rice
With the discussion of etymologies
Of names, their roots and buds and fruits falliing
On the dastarkhwan (-e - Awadh);
To sit around and share the sweet creamy kunnaffa![1]

In a rare moment, followed by the nice aroma
Of coffee prepared by the excellent host;

The friend escorted me to my hotel, departed
And the fragrance, a fellow-traveller!

[1] a kind of sweet
