Asking More of Me

  Asking more of me…
always asking more of me…
inadequacy surfaces again
answers to so many questions
I just don't have…
only voids
grow inside me
deep wells of void…
a disturbing silence
that I wish killed its own self
the moment it was born…
…this silence
I have come to abhor
no peace
only unease
it brings to me…

My mind heavy
with the echoes of silence
of forced calm…
with dreams
hanging around like orphans
peeping from windows…
blocking the sun…
scarred faces
empty eyes
bereft of joy
or pain…
hopeless hearts
gnawing indifference…
emasculated bodies
symbols of pain.
Pain that can never be expressed
or understood…
pain that has lost identity…
doomed to live
for they asked for immortality…
these dreams
languish away
down dark corridors
of life…
