The earth holds in her long arms
Variegated flora, fauna and grains
A perennial protecting roof above
Where the sun, the moon, the stars
Oft play their game - hide and seek

Her long white hair has a flow
Quenching the thirst of the world
Of the mute offspring - beats, birds
Even the leeches crawl in her knots
Along with her children - human beings
Glued to her ever sustaining bosoms.

Annals of humanity, life and death
Go on getting created and recreated
Even on the swings of wind and pain
Despite deeper inferno of global strife
Painful to heart of the bleeding earth.

Even after knowing the outward wall
And the hands creating fences around
Even after dispelling the fog of darkness
And the elemental forces engulfing us all
Our quest to know ever remains the same
To get at the bottom of this cosmic matrix.
