Spirit Child

I dreamed a dream a spirit child;
With Earthly age of nine or ten,
Came to tell my troubled soul
I would see my love again.

My wife, who passed some years ago,
Was living there in God’s domain.
Awaiting my arrival;
To end my lonesome pain.

Ten years of guilt and sorrow
Had wrecked my worthless life;
And every day I’d pray to God
To reunite me with my wife.

And so this night my time had
Come to leave this lonely place.
Hand in hand with the spirit child;
Which had our daughter’s face.
