Palm Prints

  My hand rests
On the nape of your neck
And my finger tips
Remember your pulse.

Your shoulder sits perfectly
Under my cupped palm
And I feel the responding shrug
Of your cool skin.

I place my hand
Gently over your heart,
Feel it beat for me
And know you live.

I trace the line
Along your white belly
And wonder at
The miracle of your creation.

Palm prints,
Like footprints in the sand,
Are what you have left behind,
And oh such precious memories!
