Dervish and the Nautch Girl

Tying all those turns of life at
your feet and whirling at edge
in your own tune
is a way of the dervish.

It reminds me of a nautch girl
dancing only to the snarl of hunger
with an eye on tossed coins
without losing on rhythm.

She gets it from her
inheritance of hunger.
Whirl of the dervish
comes out from his humble greed
for inner fire.

The dancing girl
Is trained to go mad
and take violent turns of a dervish
to put out
the inferno of hunger
ruling her squalor.
