When Inspiration Dies

How many songs
lost in shadows
dying on sleeping lips,
never to be heard?

How many poems
forever ignored
when hope is lost,
never to be read?

How many paintings
never to be seen
rotting in humid corners
forever abandoned?

When artists
forsake all expression
on dusty roads
of despair,
creativity dissolves
in solitary depression.

Moon, sun, stars
disappear
into infinity.

How sad
when inspiration
dies.

Never to express
wondrous souls
as life goes on,
colorless...

No songs, no art, no poetry.
No dreams.
