My Archie

Unconditional love

implicit loyalty,

regardless of the color

of my moods.

That is you, my Archie.

Brown clear eyes

conveying love

worth more than a million words.

The joy at my arrival,

deep sadness when I leave.

I enjoy our long walks

rain or shine,

glances exchange

once in a while.

I deeply feel your soul

as part of mine,

in silent communion

always aware

of each other's tempo.

Happy when I am sitting,

pretending to sleep

you listen to my silence.

Won't move unless I do.

Then you follow, tail wagging.

No matter where I go

It's where you want to be.

I sit now by my desk

you snoring at my feet

in undeniable comfort.

I wrote this this poem a few years ago. I revived on the anniversary of Archie's death a year ago. Picture of both of us.
