Theme: Memories

A Manna Dey Song

How long I have not seen you my love!
Yet your face is forever vivid in my mind
In the mirror of my memory
Still you cast your shadow, my queen.
You are no longer by my side
Yet my heart always seeks you my love
And this I know
When love goes away
She becomes lovelier each day
Today wherever you are
In this moonlit night
With a new lover
Perhaps you are passing your time
Tonight my lamp has gone out
I have lost my sleep
And I am passing my time in the dark
Now I have realized
Love is nothing but a mirage.

Transcreation of one of the most romantic Bengali love songs of Kamal Dasgupta – Katodin Dekhini Tomay - first recorded by his wife Firoza Begum and subsequently re-issued in the hit album Down Memory Lane by EMI in the late sixties in the recording of Manna Dey. This is one of his greatest recordings which will keep his memory forever alive.
