My Books

My books are my treasure.
My love for them has no measure.
I hold them very close to my heart,
As in my life, they play a key part.

I love my books
And often give them
Tender, loving looks
As if perceiving gems!

About my books, I am very possessive.
About their upkeep, I am quite obsessive...
Borrowers I avoid with a look dismissive.
These traits of mine invite comments derisive.

A good book often inspires
To read more and more...
It also very often transpires
That it opens my mind’s door...

Books give me silent companionship.
They promise me lifelong friendship.
They are there for me in my times of need,
Ever ready to provide an enjoyable read!
