The Illegitimate Child

Once when juices were flowing like a river
Through my veins promising nothing but disgrace,
I masturbated behind a tree and hit it.
I now have a weedy-looking, thin-barked son
Who looks like a spindly almond tree of winter time.
Being a responsible father (his mother doesn’t care) I cover
My offspring under canvas at night, also when it rains.
Next year I will have to buy a military tent, it is
Amazing how tall he grows making me look old.
