In this lazy noon at the lonely window
Like a fleeting dream
I dimly remember my forgotten pain
In my adolescence
In the shy whisperings
I longed to hear the first words of love
Today in these hot winds
Why do they rustle with the leaves of trees
The hope that remained unfulfilled
In tears what I kept concealed
Why do they come back with the flower’s fragrance
Like sweet breathings
All day long they float in the shadows
Cast by the champa trees.

Transcreation of the seasonal song Maddhyadiner bijon batayane by Rabindranath Tagore
