  Let my days pass
If they pass like this -
And if my mind flies
Let it fly on the wings of songs.
The fountain of my life is flowing
In a burst of tunes
Bursting the bounds of my body.
The sky overhead
Has opened its blue canopy.
The universe has bared its heart
It is so eager to speak
The solid earth beneath
Is no longer a barrier
It is also full of music
The whole world wants to sing out its soul
Who cares today
If I neglect my work!

Translation of the song - Emni korei jay jodi din jakna/ mon urechhe urukna re mele diye ganer pakhna - by Rabindranath Tagore. The genesis of the poet's songs were various, one of it was his occasional short spell of a kind of frenzy. In his youth at times music used to haunt him. All on a sudden he used to start humming a raga and then like a man possessed, ignoring everything else, he composed song after song. The present one seems to recapture that mood. The original with its swaralipi or notation is at http://www.rabindra-rachanabali.nltr.org/node/6295.
