Often I want to walk away from it all
go strolling in the hills or lie down
on a bed of leaves; the glittery sky
lighting my way back to innocence
Sometimes I just want to be charmed
by a river’s gentle ripples as it glides
to unburden its secrets into the sea
and unwind from the decades
of endless struggle and strain.
What tranquillity in letting go!
The halo of autumn encircles me -
that age of challenges and blessings
at length revealing that in simply being
you will find life’s true meaning
Earth’s poetry in a cadence sweet
will lead my feet in measured steps
till I learn to dance in slow tempo
to the rhythm and refrain of peace
