They gained their knowledge

When lighting was not the norm;

Why, some went up the ladder

of knowing under moonlight,

step by step, earnest with pluck.

Never whined over poverty,

poor means, the bruises of battles.

When they came on the stage

the students remained transfixed.

Knowledge from a scarred life

flowed from their lips to all.

Also these gems came free.
