The First Teacher

When unknown

Into the world you step

A hand guides your way

And you look up

And see this hand everywhere

Each movement

Each flicker is guided by this teacher

Mother, with a strict eye,

On doing wrong

A frown is the answer

And when right is performed

A smile is your reward. It is but a fact

That the mother is the first

Teacher of the child.
