Ultimate Reality

The ultimate reality

Of this elusive world is –

Everything is mortal,

Cyclic and Transient.

Today this was my dad

And patriarch of the family

Tomorrow this will be me

Others will follow one by one.

This body is perishable

If anything is sustainable

This is only our Atman*

Which is eternal and immortal.

*Atman is a Sanskrit word which means 'soul'.
