I looked deeply into his eyes
For bringing me to paradise.
It was our honeymoon
To me it was our own moon.
It was cool, it was calm
We were at Pahalgam.
A tornado blew away the gentle breeze
Hearts like drums beat, smiles on faces freeze.
Picnic turns into a frenzied pandemic
Peals of laughter into screams.
Why are there gunshots
On bees enjoying the nectars?
I tighten the grip
Of my hands on his hip.
They asked if we were Hindu
Naive was I, thought it was an innuendo;
They would show us a Temple.
Alas! Their gun was at his temple.
Innocent tourists, pale in panic,
Wait for words from the manic.
What crazy deranged mind
Would riddle with bullets, innocuous mankind?
Definitely not a creation of God.
A beast sculpted by Satan.
I hold my husband to my heart
Our beats sync, till one stops.
“Please take my life,” I scream.
I want nothing, but to die as ‘his wife’.
Seven days of married bliss,
Emptied me of maiden memories.
I sit up, his body still warm on my lap,
Devoid of life, my energy did sap.
My mind screamed out to The Universe
To possess me, to empower me,
To annihilate the zealots
Till none exists.
