Wafted by the multihued clouds of my dreams,
I am savouring the delicacies offered,
By the denizens of a never-never land,
Suddenly there a jerk comes.
A call opens up a chasm,
Between dreams and reality,
And abruptly throws me out of the ethereal world,
To the ground of hard reality.
One SOS from the nursing home
Gives a jolt to my tranquil mind,
My filial concern is alerted for an imminent threat.
I rush to the nursing home
My senile scooter with weak sinews and frail legs
Tries to give the run for my money!
Finding my father OK,
I heave a sigh of relief.
Note - Post my father’s surgery in 2011 at the ripe age of 86, I was woken up in the early morning just to be told that he had a bleeding the previous night. My mental state caused by the receipt of the SOS and my rushing to the nursing home in the early hours is given a realistic portrayal here. |
