I deleted sorrow
like an old message
but
it buried itself deeper
in the cloud of my memories.
I left it there
and walked into the city.
It came with me
in place of my shadow.
I immersed myself in work.
A hundred notifications
flashed across the screen
yet inside me
only one name glowed silently.
I smiled and took a selfie.
The camera saw my face,
but it could not see
the broken mirror inside me.
I thought
Time
would put a plaster
over the wound
But time did not teach me
How to cover the wound and move on.
It taught me
How to walk with the wound.
One night, I opened the window.
The air
that had been locked inside
for so many days
flowed out
And with it
a little of my sorrow
went away.
That was when I understood
Some pains do not come to leave us.
They come
to help us leave behind
the person we once were
and remake us as someone new.
Do not try
to walk past sorrow.
Walk through it.
One day
When you turn around
and look back
There will be no wound there
Only a path,
the path you walked.
