To talk of freedom we have gathered here we’ve come to laud what we hold most dear the sunshine of the human spirit and dignity proudly we uphold its honour and solemnity
We vociferously demand freedom of speech, but freedom to be, we vehemently impeach There are people forced to hide in invisible spaces ashamed of them we wipe out all their traces
They are the gaps between our narratives the slighted ones, like undeveloped negatives… we snatch away their right to be different callously we ignore their hearts’ raging current
Our minds blindfolded with veils of conditioning we hardly realise they are frightfully crippling we trade in our reality for fictional roles fettered to customs we sell the liberty of our souls
What will others say – is a tyrant nasty to kowtow to it we are ever so hasty Singing songs of freedom we don’t truly hold Unawares, by society’s diktats we are controlled
From mental slavery let us ourselves estrange With our power to choose, respond, and change Peace and true freedom will certainly prevail If to live and let live becomes each life’s mainsail
