You've Changed Me

You've gone, but you haven't left me,
Times are gone, memories are with me.
Nothing has changed,
But you've changed me.

I still smile, but it's occasional,
I still laugh, but it's fortuitous,
My cheerfulness a deception,
I've gained on indifference,
In that you've changed me.

The child within me, you transposed,
Unknown emotions to me, you exposed,
A bud never to be a rose,
In that you've changed me.

A river of happiness and joy I was,
Oceans of woefulness you've caused,
Added to my depressed thoughts,
In that you've changed me.

Emptiness inside me, you made alive,
Love is the last thing, for which I'll ever strive,
Attempts of affection, I just can't abide,
In that you've changed me.

Yet I don't blame you, for changing me as a person,
For you've shown me how emotions can be nurtured,
Happiness a passing phase, sadness always by your side,
Such facts of life you've made me realize
In that you've changed me.
