A Love That Died

  I saw the fading embers
As I gazed into your eyes
A look of sorrow, doubt and pain
Still, it came as no surprise!

For many days my hopes had dimmed
Whilst waiting for the signs;
Of continued feelings, love and hope
But all these things I've been denied.
