Death of a Youth

He was my cousin-nephew's brother-in-law.
Very bright, handsome, lovable;
used to work in a foreign bank
in a foreign land.
News came one morning
that he died in an accident.
Details were awaited.
News came that he died in a pool.
His friend was nearby.
He did not know swimming,
but the pool was shallow.
A friend was nearby.
So all kinds of suspicion surfaced.

Only an inquisition will tell the happenings.
The father was broken.
"I have not done anything wrong to anybody knowingly in this life".
I do not not know what wrong I did in some previous birth
that I had to get this punishment? - he said.
I only replied: But, we do not have power over God.
His decision has to be abided by.
Be strong.
God knows best.
And I took leave of him,
knowing fairly well,
what goes on inside parents' minds
when a fledgling man of a score and six
suddenly leaves the world.
