A tree does stand and stare
Day and night, shine and shower
Dedicating the day for breath
Living on only inches of earth.

Rose or banyan, palm or pine
Never sleeps like time
Offers flowers or thorns
Sends out love, and warns.

Does fence and build to deliver
Safety and shade for ever
Animals and humans whosever-
The great lover and giver.

Living on light, air and crust
Healthy or hairy lot
Slain into logs and firewood
Never protests like God.

The Muse wanders in woods
In lovely dark and deep voids;
Instead stands, stares and thinks
Bodhidroom* again may wink.

Note:
Buddha is believed to have achieved enlightenment in Bodhgaya in India while meditating under a banyan tree.
