Roses

As early picks in life
While still a young teenager
From my ancestral rose garden
Two beautiful roses I picked
Which remained undelivered
One was yellow and the other red
One was for my best friend
The other for someone I loved
Destiny had different plans, however.
A lifetime has passed ever since
Whenever my scrapbook I open
To peek into my reminiscences
I find those not so lucky roses
Still tagged, giving me a reminder
Once so fresh and bright petals
Now dried with faded luster
Narrate their own story of sort
Then remorseful I wonder, like me
Their fate too is sealed, forever.

Thanks, Aparna Ji, as ever you have given commensurate colour and fragrance.

Yes, Dr Kumarendra, during early life many of us have honest and pure emotions and ambitions which may or may not see a day but some of them are so evocative as to haunt lifelong. I am glad you liked it.

Very well composed poems, Jaipal ji. It is a pity the emotions froze with the time like, 'Meri baat rahi mere man mei, kuchh kahan saki uljhan mei.' Congratulations.
