They are the ones amongst us
People disabled and underprivileged
It may exist from birth
Or acquired during the lifetime
The handicap may occur
In any part of the body or mind
By an accident or illness
Such people may even have
Impaired hearing, speech or vision.
They don't need ridicule
They don't need lip sympathies
Instead need some empathy and care
Moral support and opportunities
To live with dignity and hope.
For God's sake, don't be a parasite
On their share of funds and resources
Realize instead, your honest encouragement
To even one impaired soul in a lifetime
Could be your significant contribution
Towards humanity and humanitarian cause.

Dear Nathmal JI,
I can understand and feel sorry for the kind of pain you and your son have been through all these years. I also know pain of any kind, physical or mental, makes a person tough and brave in life. I wish you and your son be blessed with needful courage and strength to face and overcome this in life.
Regards, Jaipal Singh

To read the poem I recalled an unforgettable incident. In 1982 my elder son was affected with polio. We wandered all over the cure centres for this disease to get proper treatment. But alas ! All was in vain. The result is that he is still bearing the effects of it.Till now he & I have tolerated too much as you described in above these lines.Thank you very much to create right attitude towards the physically handicapped persons.Again lots of thank. You have so nicely succeeded in your aim to write this poem.
