Ever since his birth
For countless nights
She was anxious and awake
So that he sleeps well
For years together
She retained him close to heart
To give warmth, love and care
She curtailed her needs and expenses
To make sure that he gets
Better health, education and atmosphere
Now he is grown up
Married, working and successful
She is old, weak and sick
And he has mercifully put her
In an old age home care
Of course, he has a sound logic
In the metropolitan city
He can't afford a bigger house
With enough space to accommodate her
Although in the same house
He has evening drinks and cards
With half-a-dozen colleagues and friends
And his fashionable wife often throws
Lavish kitty parties at weekends. |

Very touched by this poem, Jaipalji. However, as a 60+ senior citizen myself, I do believe that the modern professional life makes hard demands and takes a huge toll of the youngsters of today. Therefore, those of us, who can afford it, must voluntarily move out to senior citizen facilities, so that our children could concerntrate on their own lives and chosen professions. Except perhaps the very upper strata with their card, drinks and kitti parties, most of the youngsters struggle to make both ends meet...Personally, I also like my freedom and find making adjustments difficult at this age...

Kulbir ji, with focus on materialism in the changing times, people tend to be more selfish and greedy. Hence it may be sad but not surprising that such instances are on increase.
