Labour Ethics
by Dr. Jaipal Singh
Bookmark and Share
  Year after year
Meetings, conferences and conclaves
Are organised with a view to improving
Employer - labourer relations
Service conditions and wages
Of all categories of labourers
In organized and unorganized sectors.

Achievements and milestones
Are highlighted and claimed
In absolute and percentage terms
Of inclusive development and reforms
Social welfare, security and safety norms
Of the labour classes of all sorts...

Yet on the ground
It remains the same sordid saga
Safe, healthy and dignified
Working conditions in work places
Continue to elude
Characterised with low earnings
And poor conditions at work
With continued exploitation
Of child labour
And unequal terms and wages
Based on gender discrimination
In several organisations!
