What Would Have Been...

It would have been

A day I’d treasure

One I’d remember

Till the end of my days

A visit to a city

Teeming with history

And, momentarily,

The music I adore

It would have been

A concert filled

With lit-up hearts,

Lovingly playing

Their own parts

A sense of warmth

When it would start...

But now

With a sky so blue,

And the leaves so green,

As tree-blossoms bloom,

And spring can be seen,

There are people I love

Upon whom I can lean,

It does not do well

To dwell

On what would have been...
