Dipankar Sadhukhan has been serving as a teacher of English at Badamtala High School (H.S.), Budge Budge, Kolkata – 700137, since 27th September, 2008. Dedicated and responsible, he has also been holding the post of Teacher-in-Charge of the same institution since 1st July, 2023. Alongside his profession as an educator, he nurtures a deep passion for writing poetry and prose in both English and Bengali.
His first two poetry collections, Your Love, My Inspiration and Love, Another Name of Divinity, were published in 2014 and are available worldwide. His third international poetry book, Beauty and Truth in Love, appeared in January 2016, followed by My Own World in August 2022. His fifth English poetry book, The Bower of Love, and his sixth, In the Carnival of Dream, were also published in 2022. His maiden Bengali poetry book, Swapner Akashe Duhswapner Chhaya, was released at the International Kolkata Book Fair 2023. His second and third Bengali volumes, Sonar Harin and Jege Otho Nari, were published at the Kolkata Book Fairs of 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Born and raised in a middle-class family in Nadia, West Bengal, Dipankar’s childhood was shaped by simplicity, discipline, and cultural richness. At the age of five, he was admitted directly to Class Two at Natapuli Vivekananda Shishu Siksha Niketan. Since his early years, he has remained honest, highly ambitious, industrious, determined, passionate, and peace-loving. He was profoundly influenced by the humble lifestyle of his father, Santosh Kumar Sadhukhan, and by the teachings of his mother, Bhagabati Sadhukhan, who introduced him to the great personalities of India and its cultural heritage. She was his only tutor and guiding force during the impressionable years of his childhood.
Dipankar was consistently a meritorious student. After completing primary education at Natapuli Debendra Smriti Vidyapith, he came under the inspiring guidance of Mr. Birendranath Sadhukhan, the former Headmaster of the Primary School, and Mrs. Gita Raha Halder, his History teacher at the High School. Despite suffering from jaundice for six long years, he secured first position in school for five successive years. He completed his school education at Chakdaha Ramlal Academy, one of the most reputed institutions in Nadia. On the advice of his English tutor, Mr. Pradip Kumar Sarkar, he pursued B.A. Honours in English.
Later his family shifted to Ranaghat, from where he and his younger brother, Subhankar Sadhukhan, continued their education. During his teenage years, Dipankar met with three major accidents, one of which—when a coconut fell on his head—threatened his life and interrupted his studies. In spite of severe pain and prolonged suffering, he successfully completed his B.A. (Hons.) in English from the University of Calcutta.
He was subsequently admitted to St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata—one of India’s most prestigious institutions—where he obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, even while undergoing long-term medical treatment. The transformative teaching of Dr. Mandira Mukherjee, Former Dean (Department of Education), and Dr. Charlotte Simpson-Veigas left a profound impact on him. He regards them as his ideals for their excellence in scholarship and pedagogy. He later completed his M.A. in English (Literature) and Bengali (Linguistics). He now resides in Kolkata.
Dipankar has been writing poetry since his school and college days. Some of his early poems appeared in institutional magazines. His works are regularly published in VERBUMLANDANEWS (Italy), an international e-magazine. He is also a member of Muse India, a reputed online literary journal. Many of his poems have been published on websites such as poemhunter.com, bestpoems.com, poetrysoup.com, poemsabout.com, and in numerous national and international journals, magazines, and e-zines. His three international poetry books—Your Love, My Inspiration (2014), Love, Another Name of Divinity (2014), and Beauty and Truth in Love (2016)—have been widely appreciated and purchased across the globe. His ambition, perseverance, dedication, and honesty continue to guide him toward success in every sphere of his life.
