Yesterday from Afar

She knows nothing
she can't be real
as graceful as a swan
dancing on water
she smiles like a child
And all out of balance with the piles of leaves
the heavy gray of autumn
there is no life in her spring
there is no order
And I picked her
from a face in the crowd
like everyone else I thought I knew
first look, first love, first warm rush
Yesterday from afar
she sent best wishes
in a scrawling hand
beyond nature
from temporal landscapes in some other world
