Dr. Shamenaz Sheikh

Allahabad,India

Dr. Shamenaz is the winner of the “Ogakhi Prize for Best Translation of Uzbek Children's Literature into Foreign Languages” category by “Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 24th December 2025. She is a Poet, Short story writer, Translator, Editor, Literary critic and Lecturer of English. She is Author/Editor & Translator of 51 international books. Her recent book is “Kashmir & Uzbekistan : Historical, Cultural & Other Similarities” with Gowher Pirzada (Journalist, Srinagar). She has translated 21 English Books of Uzbekistan (From English to Hindi) and 4 Books of India (From Hindi to English). She has published 2 short story collections entitled “The Jasmine Girl & Other Stories” and “Virtual Versus Real World & Other Stories”. 

         She was Visiting Faculty in Fergana State University, Fergana, Uzbekistan in October 2023 and is currently teaching at Rajarshi Tandon Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Allahabad, India. She has 23 years of teaching experience with a PhD in English literature from University of Allahabad, India. She has attended many Seminar/Conferences and Literature festivals in India and abroad and has published 85 research papers in reputed journals worldwide. She has given lectures physically and online in many Colleges in India and on an online basis in countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan and North Macedonia. 

       She is Founder & President of Progressive Literary & Cultural Society (India), an international organization working to promote global literature & culture. Under its banner she has organized many Conferences, Workshops, E-Lectures, Poetry festivals and other literary & cultural activities. She has organized events in collaboration with many international organizations like, the International Multicultural Organization (Azerbaijan), The State Committee for Tourism Development, Kashkadarya Regional Board (Uzbekistan), The State Academy of Choreography, (Uzbekistan), St. John’s College (India), Nayaab Abbasi Girls’ Degree College (India) and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College (Aundh, India). 

          She is a Coordinator of Gender Studies in Global Peace Let’s Talk ( An UK based international Peace organization) Under its banner, she has organized two courses on Gender Studies and the other on Human Values & Professional Ethics. She has also organized various talks, lectures, interviews and panel discussions on Gender Issues, Conflict and Peace and other issues related to human causes.

        Her poems have been published poems in many poetry magazines & anthologies worldwide like, Levure Litteraire Numero 11, 12 & 13, 'Poetry Archive Monthly Magazines', 'Raven Cage Zine', 'Women of Substance', 'Women of Reflection', 'Feeling International (USA)', 'Poetic Souls (USA)', 'Women of Passion (USA)' 'Glomag' and some Indian Anthologies. She is the Indian representative of the International Multicultural Network, Azerbaijan. She is also a member of AESI, MELOW, CAPCDR and GRDFT.
