Kabir Maala Kaath Kee, Kahi Samjhave Tohi
Man Na Firave Aapna, Kaha Firave Mohi
Kabir, the wooden beads rosary, explicitly proceedes to educate
(If) you set not your mind in (a focused) motion, (then) to what end you rotate
Having talked about the rosary in the earlier dohas (# 30 and # 31) Kabir now goes a step further in giving a new dimension to the purpose and usefulness of the rosary.
In this doha, Kabir using a metaphor - where he equates the rosary to a teacher - candidly advises the aspirants to focus on directing (conquering) the mind towards their spiritual goal.
Kabir asserts that mere rotation of the rosary is useless and futile with a wandering mind.

|Kabir was relevant then, Kabir is relevant now. In fact, all his dohas seem to be more relevant today.|
|Maria, you are right in the effort bringing its own results. But Kabir sees the miracles as no different from the results one gets from physical efforts, like farming. If you intent to know what stands behind all, you need to focus on the mind is what he wishes to convey.|
Being a Catholic, I seldome say the rosary. It does bring comfort to me. Although we say the prayers upon the beads like parrots, it bring miracles. God knows what we need, it is when we use effort behind a prayer that He smiles upon us. Most enjoyed your share.|
